U Seal Level Measurement Application

Water level in U seal is measured by Non -contact Radar Level Transmitter

Pump House is Designed to Boost up the Gas from Gravity flow to 3000 Nm3/hr and to distribute the Gas to Different Gas consuming Zones like WRM, SMS , SINTER Plant.
SEAL: Water is being used as Sealing Liquid to Isolate Booster Pump from Inlet /outlet when Booster pump is in Maintenance ( OFF) /not in operation.
Level: Water level in U seal is measured by Non-contact Radar Level Transmitter and to Fill /Drain the U seal Used Radar Level Transmitter Feedback to Control the Water Solenoid valve .

Changing position of the radar level measurement

  • Radar was installed Straight, but radar gave multiple reflection when pipe was empty & it was giving 100% value. Changed Nozzle Angle Slightly, to focus towards middle of the Curvature so that it gave strong reflection from Curvature starting point.

Seal Water indication wrong means chances for Explosion

Booster Pump frequently Tripping due to False alarm/ indicatio by Radar level. Radar Indication not Stable when U seal is empty. COKE OVEN Gas is a Toxic /Flammable Gas , when seal Water is Indication wrong means CO gas will get in to Safe area, chances for Explosion also ( when it get ignites).

Then changed Nozzle Angle Slightly, to focus towards middle of the Curvature so that to get the good /strong reflection from Curvature starting point.
