WirelessHART is a wireless communication technology specifically developed for process automation. It adds wireless capabilities to the established HART protocol while maintaining compatibility with existing HART devices, commands, and tools. This makes it possible to integrate both legacy and new devices into a wireless network without extensive cabling.
The technology supports the exchange of measurement values, device information, and diagnostic data from connected HART devices. In a WirelessHART network, adapters transmit information from field devices, while a fieldgate receives the data and makes it available to the plant network through communication options such as Modbus, OPC, Ethernet or RS485.
